That's as good an explanation as any I could attempt-- in fact it's probably better. I often add in about the number of people on Twitter: the size of the network is not overwhelming- you are only generally talking to up to a few people at a time. 

Or to go with your food motif: the Twitter stream is a menu-- order a la carte and you'll be fine. 

And thanks for the Google shout-out-- crazy as it sounds, my Twitter page is still #2 for "dough!"</description>
